About Us
Nicholis J. Stein, P.C. was founded in 2007 as a small worker’s compensation and personal injury law firm. The founding attorney, Nicholis J. Stein grew up on the north shore of the Chicago area. He graduated from New Trier high school in 1976. After high school Mr. Stein received his B.A. in business administration from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. After graduating from college, Mr. Stein returned to the Chicago area and attended the John Marshall Law School night division while working full time for a premiere personal injury law firm. Mr. Stein received his law degree in 1983 and became licensed as an attorney in early 1984.
Since that time, Mr. Stein has continually worked in the injury law field. He started his career with the personal injury firm of Harvey L. Walner & Associates. There he successfully learned the intricacies of presenting an injury case to a 12 member jury, along with all of the skills necessary to bring a client’s case to a fair and lucrative conclusion prior to trial.
In 1986 Mr. Stein decided to broaden his experiences as a trial lawyer and joined the staff counsel office of the Aetna Life and Casualty Company. In that position, Mr. Stein learned how a large insurance company dealt with its “liability” cases. While there, Mr. Stein was responsible for all aspects of defending insurance company cases. During Mr. Stein’s tenure with Aetna, he was promoted to a “senior staff attorney” position responsible for handling and defending multi million dollar cases.
Mr. Stein retired from Aetna in 2000 to return to the full time representation of injured clients. At that same time, Mr. Stein expanded his practice area by representing clients who were injured in work related accidents.
Since that time, Mr. Stein has concentrated exclusively in the areas of Petitioners workers’ compensation law and Plaintiffs personal injury law. He has obtained millions of dollars in case settlements and favorable verdicts and awards in both the circuit courts and the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.
On the personal side, Mr. Stein is an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoys a spirited ride on a vintage motorcycle.
